Glass Care and Cleaning
|
Always wash your glassware several times a year to keep it sparkling and to avoid dust from scratching the surface of it. Use a mild detergent and a soft towel for drying and never wash your treasured glass in the dishwasher as it can etch and damage the surface of it. A bit of ammonia in the final rinse will add a sparkle to the glass.
Any glass can break or shatter easily if moved from a warm environment to a cooler one. Always leave glass at room temperature for several hours before moving it, washing it, or unpacking it and handle the pieces very carefully as you do so. Use lukewarm water when cleaning and you will rarely have a problem.
Never store liquids in glass for a long period of time as they can break down the surface causing damage. For cleaning deposits that have built up on the glass try rubbing with vinegar or lemon juice.
